Small amounts purple and lime green or two contrasting colors 100% cotton worsted-weight yarn for rose and leaves

Instructions

Rnd 1: With main color, ch 5, join with sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as dc), 14 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch 3. (15)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join. (30)

Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next st, (2 dc in next st, dc in next st) around, join. (45)

Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, (dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st) around, join. (60)

Rose

Row 1: With rose color, ch 57, dc in sixth ch from hook (end ch counts as dc and ch 2), * ch 2, skip next 2 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch—V-st made; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 6 dc in first ch-2 sp, (sc in next ch-2 sp, 7 dc in next ch-2 sp) across to last 6 V-sts; sc in next ch-2 sp, 9 dc in next ch-2 sp) to end, sc in last st. Fasten off, leaving tail for sewing.

Roll from beginning of row 2 so that large petals end up on last round of rose. Roll up so that rose is formed; thread tapestry needle with yarn end and stitch back and forth across back of rose to secure.
