Hello crochet friends! I’m super excited to share my new design, Solace, which is the fourth square in the Moogly CAL 2025. You can find the announcement post with all the details about the always-wonderful Moogly CAL here.
The Solace Square features a sort of stained glass aesthetic, with colored areas outlined in one color. Tamara over at Moogly chose her lightest color for the outlines on her square, as did I. After trying several color combinations during the design process, I settled on four colors, but this square has interesting possibilities when made with more or fewer colors. I also think it would be great in only two colors!
This is Tamara’s version. Quite different with the vivid color choices! I love it.
Solace gives different looks when dark, medium and light colors are used for different areas. I chose my darkest color for the two same-color rounds surrounding the star motif, which made the background recede and the star really pop. For some of my practice pieces, I placed lighter colors in this area which gave different effects. You can’t go wrong with color placement on this one, and I can hardly wait to see what everyone chooses.
Here are some helpful mooglyblog.com links for this CAL and this square.
