Sassy Stripes Pillow

Materials
1 ball (100gm/190 yds./174m) each three colors KnitPicks Dishie 100% cotton worsted-weight yarn—Mulberry 25784 (A), Fiesta Red 25786 (B), and Silver 25789 (C)
H (5.00mm) crochet hook
Gauge
15 sts = 4”; 12 rows pattern stitch = 4”
Instructions
Pillow front
Step 1: Work striped section
Row 1: With A, ch 29, sc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) across, turn. (28)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first dc, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn. Fasten off.
Row 3: Join B with sc in first st, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn.
Rows 4-6: Repeat row 2. At end of row 6, fasten off.
Repeating row 2 for pattern and joining new colors as in row 3, work random stripes of A, B and C for a total of 40 rows. My stripes are as follows:
Rows 7-8: C
Rows 9-10: B
Rows 11-14: A
Rows 15-16: C
Rows 17-18: B
Rows 19-20: A
Rows 21-24: C
Rows 25-26: A
Rows 27-30: B
Rows 31-32: C
Rows 33-34: A
Rows 35-36: B
Rows 37-40: C
Step 2: Turn piece and work along ends of rows.
Row 1: Join B with sc in end of first row; sc in end of each row across, turn. (40)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, (sc in next st, dc in next st) across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn.
Rows 4-12: Repeat row 3. At end of row 12, fasten off.
Step 3: Turn piece and work along bottom edge (see diagram). Work along ends of rows just made.
Row 1: Join C with sc in end of first row, sc in end of each of next 11 rows, sc in each st along 28 sts of starting ch, turn. (40)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, (sc in next st, dc in next st) across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn.
Rows 4-12: Repeat row 3. At end of row 12, fasten off.
Step 4: Turn piece and work along side edge (see diagram). Work in row 12 of color B section, then work in ends of rows just made.
Row 1: Join A with sc in first st on row 12 of color A section, dc in next st, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across the 28 stitches of row 12, then working in ends of rows of color C section, sc in end of first row, dc in end of next row) across 12 rows, turn. (40)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next sc, (sc in next dc, dc in next sc) across, turn.
Rows 3-12: Repeat row 2. At end of row 12, fasten off.
Pillow back
Row 1: With A, ch 53, sc in second ch from hook, dc in next ch, (sc in next ch, dc in next ch) across, turn. (52)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, (sc in next st, dc in next st) across, turn.
Repeating row 2 and working in stripes as established with striped section, work 2 rows each color repeating A, B, and C for 52 rows. Fasten off.
Finishing
Holding pieces wrong sides together and working through both layers, join B with sc in any corner, work 52 sc along each edge of pillow with 2 sc in each corner; insert pillow form before completely closing opening, join. Fasten off.
