Margaret 10″ Crochet Square

Margaret 10 square

This pretty 10” block makes use of treble cluster stitches for texture and appeal. It can be made 12” square by repeating the last round as needed.

Materials

Worsted-weight yarn in three colors A, B and C

H (5.00mm) hook

Instructions

Rnd 1: Ch 7 with A, join with sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 4 (counts as tr), (yo twice, insert hook into ring, pull up lp, yo and draw through 2 lps, yo and draw through 2 lps) 3 times, yo and draw through all 4 lps on hook—beginning cluster made, * ch 4, (yo twice, insert hook into ring, draw up lp, yo and draw through 2 lps, yo and draw through 2 lps) 4 times, yo and draw through all 5 lps on hook—cluster made; repeat from * 7 times, ch 4, join with sl st in fourth ch of beginning ch-4. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: Join B with sl st in any ch-4 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), 3 dc in same sp, * 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, ch 6 **, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp; repeat from * 2 times then from * to **, join with sl st in third ch of beginning ch-3. Fasten off.

Rnd 3: Join C with sl st in any corner ch-6 sp, ch 3, dc in each of next 7 dc, * (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-6 sp **, dc in next 8 dc; repeat from * 2 times then from * to **, join. Fasten off.

Rnd 4: Join A with sl st in any corner, (beginning cluster, ch 5, cluster) in same sp, * (ch 2, skip 2 dc, cluster in next st) 4 times, ch 2 **, (cluster, ch 5, cluster) in corner; repeat from * 2 times, then repeat from * to **, join in top of first cluster. Fasten off.

Rnd 5: Join B with sl st in any corner, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in same corner, 3 dc in each ch-2 sp around with (4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc) in each corner, join. Fasten off.

Rnd 6: Join C with sl st in any corner, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same corner, dc in each dc around with (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner. Fasten off.

Rnd 7: Repeat rnd 6 with A. Fasten off.

  1. Everything is beautiful. Purple and hot pink are my favorite combinations. I love the square and plan to make an afghan with your design. What I have searched for and cannot find is a pretty jacket patter in these colors . Can you help? I knit and crochet ,but really prefer crochet. If you know of anything with a pattern for a jacket, Let me know . I”ll give you all the credit. Janice
